How the Fortnite Pirate Shop works
Treasure Hunters added Treasure Hunt prizes to chests in Battle Royale. Most prizes are smaller rewards, but the rarest is Pirate Shop Access. When you activate it from the Item Shop, the regular shop turns into the Pirate Shop for your account: it rotates every day like normal, and eligible items can be claimed for free.

What you can claim in the Pirate Shop
Anything the Item Shop sells for V-Bucks during your window: outfits, back blings, pickaxes, gliders, emotes and wraps. Because the shop changes daily, what's available depends entirely on which 14 days you pick. A window that lines up with a big collaboration or the return of a long-missing item is worth far more than a quiet fortnight.
Bundles priced in V-Bucks are expected to be covered as well, but check the price shown in-game before relying on it.
What the Pirate Shop excludes
- Items or packs bought with real money
- The Battle Pass and other passes
- Gifting to other players
How to unlock the Pirate Shop
There's only one way: find Pirate Shop Access in a chest during Treasure Hunters. Treasure Chests, Buried Chests, Sprite Chests and Rare Chests can all roll it, and if one person in a party finds it, everyone in that party gets it. It's extremely rare — the community estimate is about 1 in 700,000 chests — so check your realistic chances in the odds calculator and read how to get the Pirate Shop Token for the best habits.

Why it's such a big deal
Fortnite's shop rotates every day, so two weeks of free claims can add up to a huge number of cosmetics — easily hundreds of dollars' worth if you claim everything. A free-shop reward hidden in random chests is a brand-new mechanic for Fortnite, which is why the token has taken over Fortnite social media since Treasure Hunters launched.
It's also unusually generous because it comes twice. The 2027 activation means even players who find it late in the season get a second, fully separate shopping spree next year.
Is the Pirate Shop worth chasing?
As a reward, absolutely. As a goal, probably not. The odds are so long that most players — even dedicated squads — won't find it this season. The best approach is to play normally in a full party, open every chest you pass, and treat a find as a lucky bonus. If you do get one, the activation guide explains how to time your 14 days.
